Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has developed Biosafety Law (No.755-XV from 21.12 2001, MO no. 75 of 13.06.2002). Law is harmonized with the European Directive 2001/18/EC on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and regulate activities related to procurement, testing, production, use and marketing of genetically modified organisms through modern biotechnology techniques.
The provisions of the Act apply for the following activities:
(a) procurement, multiplication, testing and use in isolated conditions, for different purposes, microorganisms, plants and animals genetically modified by modern biotechnology techniques;
(b) introduction into the environment and the marketing of genetically modified organisms through modern biotechnology techniques, including any structure capable of reproducing a living body, such as seeds, bulbs, cuttings, pollen, spores and the like;
(c) unintentional release of genetically modified organisms into the environment;
(d) introduction into the environment and the marketing of processed products containing genetically modified organisms and / or components we live genetically modified living organisms in unprocessed or processed;
(e) all kinds of research of genetically modified organisms, including laboratory research, clinical, field testing in production;
(f) deliberate operations import / export of genetically modified organisms and products of such organisms;
(g) intentionally transport us across the border of genetically modified organisms;
(h) storage, burial, destruction of genetically modified organisms and / or products from such bodies, using waste from the use of modern biotechnology techniques.
